Fail To Follow
Fail To Follow
Fail to Follow:.... In this day and age of music it seems that what once was underground has exploded into the mainstream. What once had begun as a rebellion and defiance of popular culture has since become slave to fashion, trends, and repetition. Music that was once a yell of the angst filled youth has become the wailing screams of the sad and melancholy. Lyrical content that once promoted freethinking, defiance, strength, and unity have given way to poetic rants of lost love and lost causes. It seems that the long legacy of Punk Rock and what exactly it stood for has been forgotten.

In January of 2004, five musicians from the Salt Lake City, UT took notice of these disturbing trends and decided to make a change. Discontent with the ever-popular sounds of Screamo, Indie Rock, and Hardcore, and fed up with wave after wave of like sounding bands that flooded the Salt Lake music scene; these musicians came together to form an intense new band known as Fail to Follow. This formation was an attempt to change the current trend of popular music and re-ignite the flames of those who stood for something more than MTV and Bubble Gum Pop.

In the brief amount of time since Fail to Follow was formed, it has quickly made an impact on the scene. With its diverse musical style and energetic live performances, the band has managed to gain a following that grows larger day by day. Within months of playing shows Fail to Follow had already released it's first, self-titled EP in June of 2004. Since then, Fail to Follow has played the Vans Warped Tour in both 2004 and 2005 as well as shared the stage with bands such as Suicide Machines, Ignite, Authority Zero, Zebrahead, Thought Riot The AKA's, The Letters Organize, Scatter the Ashes, Emery, Copeland, Throwrag, Guttermouth, Facing New York, The Matches, Noise Ratchet, The Hurt Process, Love = Death and many more. The five song EP was eventually picked up and re-released by Nervous Breakdown Records in April of 2005. Shortly after, the band recorded a full length album, "For the Dead, The Dying, and Those Still Fighting" which was released in December of the same year by Over Giver Music.

Standing in glaring contrast to the majority of today's bands, Fail to Follow separates itself from the rest of the scene with its faster tempos and yelling vocals that one cannot help but pump their fists to. Bringing back the hardcore punk rock style that seem to have almost completely vanished due to the popularity of the more radio friendly pop punk sound. With varying influences ranging from punk to metal to hardcore, Fail to Follow has set out to wake up and open the minds of the masses. They are on a mission to show today's youth that there are problems with the world outside of their own lives that must be dealt with. To open people's minds without mere rhetoric or falling victim to the cliché of most political bands. Through thought provoking, face melting, hardcore, metal ripping music and intense live shows they intend to bring Punk Rock back to the to the scene where it belongs................................
